Meet the Tockers

Veronica

Broker Lead

Veronica (Ronnie to most of us) is leading the Tiimely Home broker team to new heights. If a Tiimely Home loan isn't the right fit for a customer, Veronica's team is there to help find them the deal that's right for them.

With a wealth of knowledge in the home loan market, Veronica shares her impressions on joining Tiimely and helping to bring Tiimely Home's broker offering to industry.

Can you explain your current role?

I manage the broker team to find solutions for customers in the home loan space, that don't fit within the Tiimely Own product. It’s a relatively new offering for Tiimely which means my day is varied and challenging and interesting. I work to implement processes and initiatives within the team, and how we fit in the greater Tiimely offering.

What was your first impression of Tiimely?

My first impression was how passionate everyone is about what they do, but also what everyone else does in the business. During the Interview process and then when I started, there was an infectious enthusiasm for how everyone contributes to the business and how each unit can help the others.

Tiimely's office is quite open and airy. Does this differ from your previous workplaces, and do you prefer it?

I was sceptical on the huge open plan and how it works day to day, but it does. There Is plenty of space between everyone to get on with your day, breakout rooms If you need quite or privacy and greenery everywhere. It also helps Interaction between different groups. And everyone is open plan, including the CEO.

What do you find most rewarding about your role?

Do I have to pick just one? There is great satisfaction in empowering people to make decisions on their home; guiding and educating them as to the how and why. It’s the same reward with the team in continuous improvement to our offering.

How has your role changed since you entered the field?

When I first began as a broker the process was a lot more manual than it is now which meant also that our customer's were typically local. Over the last few years particularly, it has become a lot more electronic, making it faster for both us and the customer, and broadening our market. But this has also brought its own hurdles. Cyber security is more prevalent which makes secure document collection all the more important. Fortunately, Tiimely has the tech for that.

Mentorship – have you had a mentor? What was the impact of that relationship?

New broker's are required to have a broker mentor for the first two years to guide and advise which is beneficial in this area. Generally though, I don't think having a mentor should be limited to one person. I have trusted people with different areas of expertise, in different fields of work, that support and guide me depending on the situation. I think it is important to have a support network around you, personally and professionally, that have your best interests in mind to help you grow, and you them.

Would you describe yourself as a more technical or a more creative person?

Definitely a creative person! However, in my role, it is the detail that get's customers across the line.
